Governments

I am out to fix the world.

I have been brainstorming: would it be possible to institute an effective socialistic society? To achieve its potential, this society would have to rely completely on the cooperation of its citizens. This is where communism has failed in the past. The citizens, the little people in the society, aren't happy: there is a greedy, oppressive leader who happened to force the system on everyone.

Is this possible to steer away from? Can we find a way to make a society with the consent of everyone? Here is where we encounter problems: everyone is different; not everybody believes in the same moral values. This is why we have wars. Differences in opinion and values lead people to believe that others are "bad", according to their own values. I think this is hypocritical. I envision a society where everyone realized the fact that others have different values, and accepts that. As long as everybody was truthful and moral according to their personal values, and didn't have values that included random violent killings of others, this could work.

Unfortunately, here we encounter further problems: greed and the lust for power. In a society where everyone is equal and lives by their values with tolerance for others, as history has made clear to us, there will still be a rebel who decides to be greedy. This is because we, as humans, are not perfect: it is in our nature to be greedy. When just one person violated the system, the whole anarchic society would collapse, unless the entire population was stubborn in their pacifistic, anarchic beliefs. Whenever there is a government, there is greed and envy in the party of the bourgeoisie and proletariat: most would feel more secure if they themselves had the power to make decisions.

This is the core reason of the success of capitalism. Because capitalism is based around the whole values of greed and the need for power, our human nature molds perfectly into it. The motivation in capitalistic society is personal benefit, not benefit for the good of society (socialism). With this motivation, everyone is happy. You can't not please someone when all they have is personal gain. I see this as the reason of success for capitalistic countries in the world today.

Sometimes I wonder, though, how we could make new and radical government types if we drastically changed society. But is it even possible?
