Leaders: Are they affecting the general public?
Is today's society in the hands of good leaders?
This is a daunting question to ask, especially if those debaters in the audience will insist on defining the word "good", indicating the characteristics of a good leader, and finally analyzing our leaders to see if they fit the requirements. However, this whole process becomes less important when we consider the general public as a writhing mass with a mind of its own.
Every day we hear information about the leaders of this country: what they say, what they do, and all the "bad" decisions they make. As much as people get worked up about our leaders, one would assume that their decisions affect each person's everyday life in a profound sense. However, one can ask himself the question: what impact have our leaders had on our lives.
In the sense of a speech, leaders can often be inspiring to the public. MLK Jr. is a prime example. Heroes, we call them. However, ponder this: Recently, has anyone been affected by an American leader's speech with the depth of feeling that the words of MLK Jr. radiate?
My answer is no.
Thus I come to my conclusion: The United States of America, as a union of US citizens, should elect leaders with better speaking skills.

Sadly you just have to look at the news for the answer. The old saying is that a politician thinks of the next election and a statesman of the next generation.
Looks like most leaders are looking to the next election.
This is great info to know.
